(Approved for the Psychotherapy/Mental Health Track Advanced Training as well as CE for maintaining PMH-C)
Clock Hours: 3
Content Description
Many clinicians work with Highly Sensitive (HSP) folks without realizing it, which can cause them to miss important opportunities to provide tailored care in the perinatal period. High Sensitivity can be intensified in the perinatal period, and can interact with Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders in unique ways. This course will help you to understand the HSP trait, how it manifests in clients, how to differentiate High Sensitivity from clinical diagnoses, and how to effectively support and treat HSP clients in your practice.
Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:
1. Describe the Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) trait as it presents in diverse populations.
2. Differentiate and understand the relationship between the HSP Trait and common perinatal diagnoses including Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, and Panic Disorder, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
3. Develop a comprehensive treatment plan for HSP individuals including at least 3 objectives.
4. Utilize specific evidence-based interventions to reduce symptomology and distress in perinatal clients.
