Content Description:
This course will provide an overview of the process of addressing trauma symptoms by utilizing the evidence-based treatment Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET). NET will be specifically applied to traumatic experiences common to perinatal populations. Attendees will learn the skills and process of NET delivery, as well as learn about integration of NET with Prolonged Exposure (PE).

Participants will be able to:
Describe contraindications to utilizing NET.
Describe the theory and therapeutic process of Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET).
Describe the theory and therapeutic process of Prolonged Exposure.
Describe Judith Herman’s model of trauma treatment and apply to perinatal populations.
Name 5 different types of perinatal trauma.
Describe the specific difficulties perinatal patients may encounter during NET. vii. Identify challenges therapists may face in the implementation of NET with perinatal populations.
